Having fun with measuring!

We have been learning about measuring using the metric system. The students had tons of fun using a tape measure to find items around the school that were less than one meter, about one meter, and more than one meter!

Winter Fun!

It has been very busy in class and we have been working hard to keep a routine with all these snow days happening!  In math, we have finished our unit on bar modeling and have moved on to multiplication.  We are learning that multiplication means equal groups and is the same as repeated addition.  (The children are learning that 5X3 is the same as 5+5+5)  After multiplication, we will move on to division!  In reading, we are beginning our Unit called "Look Again!"  We will be reading lots of non-fiction text, especially about animals and how they use camouflage to survive.  In Social Studies we will begin talking about two very important presidents, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.  Day 100 of school is just around the corner! We are having fun and learning lots in Room 22!

Spelling Test

Due to the snow day Monday and the late start yesterday, there will be no spelling test this week!

Fire Safety!

Today we were lucky enough to have the Hooksett Fire Department come talk to our class about Fire Safety.  They talked to us about their fire equipment, calling 911 and we even got to tour an ambulance!  As a class we talked about the importance of knowing our address and phone number in case of an emergency as well as having a fire evacuation plan at our homes.  Please have this important conversation with your child to help keep them safe! :)
